Windows on Macs

p2p news / p2pnet: The lamescream media have gone wild over Apple’s “revelation” that it’s going to allow people with Intel Macs to run Windows.

And as usual, the hysteria is based entirely on Apple puff pieces.

The real story occurred last month when Blanka and Narf earned $13,854 for creating an application to do exactly the same thing.

That was how much was in the pot on Colin Nederkoorn’s page, set up to encourage someone to make a MacWintel program.

But, “Apple has no desire or plan to sell or support Windows,” it declares. It only came up with what it calls Boot Camp because, “many customers have expressed their interest to run Windows on Apple’s superior hardware now that we use Intel processors,” Apple’s Philip Schiller said.

Heh

The public beta of Boot Camp is, “preview software licensed for use on a trial basis for a limited time” and will be included on the next major release of Mac OS X.

Meanwhile, Google was showing more than 1,000 headlines trumpeting the arrival of Mac OS X for Windows. ‘News’ that Katie Couric has defected from NBC’s Today show to the CBS Evening News garnered 1,877 related headlines.

By way of contrast, the two ‘top’ top stories, Olmert gets official nod to form Israeli government and Israel arrests Hamas minister, attracted a paltry 423 and 194 heads, respectively.

Apple’s PR folks certainly earn their money ;p

Why would you run windows when you can run linux??

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Because many programs are Windows only or the people need Windows to complete their work. The answer to all Windows questions is not “Why not use linux”
