Skype hooks up with EMI
p2p news / p2pnet: Today, Skype announced its deal with EMI Music, with a surprise.
A big surprise.
Skype has hooked Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
EMI, Warner and now Sony, boy, Skype almost got the “Grand Chelem”, Universal Music being the last the Big Four labels.
If you wonder what’s inside the Sony song catalog, just imagine Beck, Cyndi Lauper or Lauryn Hill available for downloads.
But it’ll be ringtone downloads, not full song downloads. Because, said a Skype representative who’s spent the day denying all the affirmations of Skype going into the online music market, "We won’t be selling full songs. There are no plans for selling music online other than in the form of a ringtone.”
Got it?…
