To quote from a Chipmunks album of long ago.

Dave (Seville): Well boys, the record is just about over. Say goodbye to everyone for now.

Simon: Goodbye!

Theodore: Bye-Bye!

Alvin: Can we do some more on the edge, Dave?

Dave: ALVIN !!!!!!!!!!

Just download a de-aacs'd version of the movie (unless you like HDCP, ACCS, and CSS and are a brainwashed zombie of the MPAA)

The thing about HD is that it only really becomes needed if you have a huge TV, like an LCD projector TV. When things get to that scale, then to keep the resolution most people are used to the HD will be needed.
Right now most people I know have grown up with and have, at the most, 32 inch TV's , and DVD quality looks tolerable at that scale. HD won't really catch on until a lot more people have much bigger screens - which may be some time.
