Nikki Hemming’s money mansion

p2p news / p2pnet: Nikki Hemming, the woman who fronts Sharman Networks’ Kazaa, the p2p file-sharing network loathed equally by both online music lovers and the corporate music industry, claims she didn’t hastily sell her, “multimillion dollar Sydney mansion,” sending the proceeds to the tax haven of Vanuatu, “to make sure record company lawyers could not get their hands on it,” says the Associated Press, going on:

“The denial capped more than four hours on the stand for Nikki Hemming at the Federal Court of Australia in Sydney. She was cross examined on two affidavits she wrote detailing her assets ahead of a possible court order for damages against Kazaa’s owners for authorizing widescale copyright breaches by users of the so-called peer-to-peer network.”

Hemming bought the house partly with a $810,000 unsecured loan, “from a company in Vanuatu with an interest rate of 3.5 percent, well below Australian rates at the time,” says AP.

But she denied the so-called loan was actually money controlled by Sharman in Vanuatu, adds the story.

In an anonymous post to a p2pnet item wondering if Hemming is a dupe, “Mark Dyne and Kevin Bermeister organised Nikki Hemming to ‘appear’ to be the new Kazaa controller after the very scared (litigation and prosecution) pre-Skype duo just wanted out of all interests in Kazaa,” says a Reader’s Write, going on:

“This happened at the beginning of 2002. Bermeister and Dyne convinced the Skypers to stay in a behind the scenes role ( fast track, Joltid, Bluemoon,Monthly cash payments, etc) and the convoluted web was designed. This was also about the time that Morpheus was unplugged from the ‘uncontrollable’ fasttrack.

“Skype money as well as the fortunes of Mark Dyne and Kevin Bermeister are being concealed and protected through all of this and Hemming’s activities and words. There is not an altruistic bone in any of them. Hemming is a gullible dupe, but she willingly agreed to serve Dyne, Bermeister and their money for a very hefty salary and a sizeable percentage share of the new company structure.

“After agreeing to the role (she does have business and PR skills) Dyne promised Hemming protection. Nikki ’s first love is money and she desperately craves significant and attention.

“Billions of dollars of kazaa/skype money is currently being concealed from The Australian Federal Court and via Hemming all of the above are desperate to keep hidden. Nikki may be hanging out for that tropical island payoff but as she approaches her 40th birthday in Jan 2007 ( Yes, she is vain and lies about her age also. Also, he’s been 36 for three years now) she can expect to receive more court action, criminal charges, bankruptcy and disgrace.”

One Response to “Nikki Hemming’s money mansion”

  1. Reader's Write Says:

The only people getting rich are the record comapny executives and judging from this article their media people. As for creators of music as long as their record companies have their cosy arrangements in place, they are getting screwed

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Pissed myself laughing when reading that Hemming says she sold her mansion because she felt violated after evidence raids and not because she was hiding assetts. That bitch and her scum wear package called Kazaa violated and still violates millions and millions of users and their computers. Even her employees despise using it. She said she does not even use it. Ironic that she feels violated especially after the giga bites of bullshit spin that spewed from her after kazaa got taken over by Sharman , should read sham- man or shame networks. Who is this Mark Dyne?? did a search and found virtually nothing on him, any one got any info and maybe post a photo of him, bring him out from the dark shadows. Have a theory on why the fasttrack numbers still appear high on Slycks stats page [around 3 million] . I think many if not most of those are from people who uninstalled the program but dont know and or cant uninstall the spyware that serves up the adverts and data mining that provides Sharman/ Hemming and co with all their money also do Skype users or a percentage of them push up the user numbers. Because its such a shit network now, those user stats are less believable than Hemmmings testimony.

Did a image search and found a photo at
    morten.linuxfinn.dk/blog/la/images/markd.GIF

Seems he lives next door to Lisa Marie Presley in LA and has his own private jet. The site it links to is Morten Lund’s who owns BullGuard the Kazaa bundled anti-virus program and he discusses a meeting and future business they will do together.

Can only conclude the anti-virus gear is no good otherwise it would identify and delete Kazaa as a virus and thus kill itself. If ever there was an oxymoron, kazaa having its own anti-virus package takes the cake.

In his blog Morten Lund goes on about Friis from Skype having a hand in developing BullGuard. All very cosy. Dyne wont be happy when he finds out Lund leaked the only known photo of him onto the net. Ok ok so i’m getting a bit dramatic, but i enjoyed this little bit of detective work. Ain’t the net grand . It keeps this night watchman entertained :)

It is all very interesting! I’ve arrived at this site and story via a news search. I used to depend on Garth Montgomery’s excellent and entertaining Kazaagate courtroom dispatches, he’s been silent for some time now. Maybe someone could direct me to his blog if he has one?. Thanks in advance.

Good reporting on this case has been hard to find with so much of the mainstream media being simple and bland duplication.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

    Thanks : )

    Cheers!

  7. Reader's Write Says:

It’s amazing how breathless reporting can make it sound wrong for somebody to exercise their legal rights to protect their assets and private personal information. I don’t know whether Nikki Hemming or anyone else in this case has done anything illegal, but they do have rights, and they would be stupid not to take advantage of them.

  8. Reader's Write Says:

i dont want to sound like an idiot, but i dont understand whats going on with this case whats its about?

  9. Reader's Write Says:

    “Their greed drove their deeds”
quite right, and made the entertainment cartels envious, they hadn’t thought of it first…only with higher charges, so as to screw everyone more.

  10. Reader's Write Says:

The Federal Court of Australia has seen enough reason to freeze the known assetts of all the Australian residents involved in this case, about 30 million dollars worth. Like it or not the Kazaa/Sharman parties have already been found guilty of authorising copyright infringement. No result on the appeal thus far.
Kazaa/ Sharman/Altnet is set up via many countries, via literally hundreds of companies. They had evil intentions from the outset.

For over four years the owners of kazaa have been hiding from everybody. Hemming constantly spewed out PR workshoped spin and flatly refused to name the kazaa owners. Saying she didn’t know who her boss was, even the companies legal firm claimed to not know who was paying them. What the cash just arrived like manna from cyber nirvanna did it. We’re talking about more than 10 million dollars in legals alone.

Kazaa and cohorts pillaged the cyber digital landscape including mainly its users computers, most novice users just can’t get it and all it’s advertising and spyware/malware off their systems and have to resort to expensive repairs and services. This has been documented in US Senate hearings, not just “breathless reporting”. Kazaa is an insidious leach of a thing.

To top it off they via Hemming presented themselves to the world as “P2P” not just a part of it. All of the resulting adverse puplicity and there is plenty ( there has not been a good news story on them for years) has done great damage to the reputation of the technology and its promise.

So hemming has finally, whilst under cross examination and oath admitted she was lying and that she is a beneficiary of the secretive Vanuatu trust, thus linking her to the main game : who owns and controls Kazaa!

Everything Hemming and Kazaa have ever done has been stage managed and manipulated to the max. They built a massive user base, based on “join the revolution” slogans, allowing anyone to access unlimited digital material of which they had no rights over, while wait for it, secretly and consistantly courting the very Entertainment corporations that produced the said materials, offering themselves as the saviour of “copyright” with their own form of DRM. They were stabbing both sides in the back simultaneously. The motivation MONEY MONEY MONEY, for them of course.

Based on everything they have ever done, the latest revelations in court would also be stage managed and controlled. Everything would have been rehearsed and plotted. Hemming is a significant scalp and deserves to be prosecuted to the max. Now the rest of them deserve the same.

  11. Reader's Write Says:

    Yeh cheers fom me too

  12. Reader's Write Says:

there is no monopoly on greed and what it drives scumbags to do. do these situations corrupt people or are corrupt people attracted to them

  13. Reader's Write Says:

If you have not encounted Kazaa you are truly blessed. They are being investigated and prosecuted in Australian federal court, for authorising copyright infringement, by the cartels. They are equally despised by the P2P community for the spyware, adware, malware etc etc etc they install with the product.

Further more they hippocritically cut the throats of their major competition Morpheus, Kazaa lite *a hacked version with all the nasty malware removed* and other bullshit corporate like stunts. Basically they wanted to over throw the cartels and replace them with their own cartel, a bit like some dodgy African dictator.

They are now a far less significant player in the P2P space. Solid continuing links to Skype and its creators * who also soldout to corporates ebay and cooperate with evil Chinese censorship controls* have been revealed.

In this case Big Music are dissembling another wanna be cartel, and inflicting a death by a thousand cuts to Kazaa executves ego’s and bank accounts, and may be liberty.

Seize the cash from all the execs (including Nicklaus and Jannus), the mansions, the jets, the secret trust accounts and use it exclusively for international humanitarian aid. This things gonna go on for years yet.

    Hope that helps your question.

  14. Reader's Write Says:

Isn’t this supposed to be a support forum for p2p not a place to view one’s own personal gripes and bs. (and slam others!- don’t use this for personal vendetta’s. Its obvious that readers write above has personal problems with Hemming , Niklas and Janus (who BTW were just named the Time Magazine top 100 most influential people : jealousy perhaps: Get a life!

We should be proud of the p2p fighters out there, not slam them!
They are the ones on the front lines fighting the cartels!

And remember anonymous posts aren’t really that. All the ISP’s track IP info as do proxy’s.

  15. Reader's Write Says:

Jealousy is the root of all evil - perhaps THESE people should do something charitable and worthwhile with their lives instead of wasting their time on getting even!

  16. Reader's Write Says:

maybe they are worried about it becoming general knowledge that ifpi is incorporated behind an iron curtain of secrecy in switzerland. Makes the vanuatu tax haven look like full compliance…or is it the trusts behnd the record companies they don’t want focussed on?
