Torrent sites hack alert

p2p news / p2pnet: The NewTorrents forum has been hacked by "some bunch of script kiddies hidden under the name TeamElite," posts Martin on the site’s home page

The TeamElite "retards" used a 0day exploit, he says, going on:

"The hacker, using nick Ninja, also logged in under my nickname and wrote some comments, I already deleted this crap and chaneged some passwords, but all threads are still gone – two years of discussion lost.

"I’m trying to reach the server admin now, which should have some backups, at least I hope he is so dutiful to have them. I’ve closed the board for public, because I need to upgrade it to prevent another hack. The idea of building whole forum from a scratch is scaring me. I’ll keep you up to date…"

Ninja, "hacked the forum deleted everything and started posting stuff with the admins account," says a p2pnet reader in an email, going on:

"There has been a lot of stuff about and how they have an ip of the hacker but its just a proxy.. well i was talking to him … and he says teamelite will be targetting many other torrent sites so i think you should put this up so other torrent site admins can see it and … ban the username from their forums."

We’ve emailed Ninja. Stay tuned.

    Script kiddies are *NOT* hackers.

Our IPB on P2P-IRC was screwed up a while back from some dumbass script kiddie, we had it fixed within the next hour and patched the exploit they used.

Better stick with apache and mod_security. Oh, I forgot, these torrent site ops insist on using lighttpd like its some kind of god or something, even tho PHP processes use up just as much resources as apache ever did, as PHP runs inside of apache through a DSO where its externally executed on lighttpd.

i dont support p2p in anyway, and certainly i never used in years, but once in a while curiosity hits me and i simply must learn on what the p2p public is saying and thinking, and i see this story. which at first i laughed with the fact that an “elite” team going by the name “teamelite” uses script kiddies, if they are so “elite” why do they stumble on these things? Thats because they are fakes. I know the scene quite well, so when i write this i am using a proxy, and since i dont find any harm done by telling everone this: there is a group in the scene that is preparing to strike torrent and other p2p sites. So you stay tuned for that..
