Newest Nestsky worm
p2pnet.net Security News:- A D variant of the Netsky worm has just made its appearance and is spreading fast in the wild.
Starting tomorrow, the new Netsky worm will cause PC speakers to beep constantly from 6:00 to 8:59.
“This worm variant lacks many text strings that were present in NetSky.C variant and it does not copy itself to shared folders. Netsky.D spreads itself in e-mails as an executable attachment only,” says Finland’s F-Secure.
It doesn’t say if the beeps start in the AM or PM.
Says F-Secure, the differences between Netsky.D and previous variants of the worm are:
The worm’s file is packed with Petite file compressor and is 17424 bytes long. The unpacked file’s size is about 28 kilobytes.
The worm doesn’t show an error messagebox when run for the first time, and nort does .
A recipient has to run the executable attachment to get infected, says F-Secure.
