China Mobile, Google search?

p2p news / p2pnet: China’s largest cell-phone carrier, China Mobile (Hong Kong), says it and Google are debating working together on a search engine for mobile services in China.

“China Mobile is keen to explore mobile data services to offset declining revenue from the traditional voice services,” says the Associated Press.

China Mobile (Hong Kong) boss Wang Jianzhou, “didn’t elaborate on the two companies’ cooperation on the mobile search engine, but he said it will mean significant progress in China’s mobile service,” says the story.

The report doesn’t say if Google would also be helping China to censor mobile conversations as it does with online news.

The company, with more than 260 million subscribers, is keen to explore new cellular data services to offset declining revenue from voice services, says MarketWatch.
