Symantec sues Microsoft
p2p news / p2pnet: It’s a lawyer’s world in which ’sue’ is the operative word. And the latest company to use the tactic is Symantec, which is going after Microsoft, alleging intellectual property theft and breach of contract.
"The complaint involves Symantec’s Volume Manager product, acquired as part of the company’s takeover of Veritas Software," says the San Francisco Chronicle. "Volume Manager allows operating systems to store and manipulate large amounts of data."
Moreover, believes The Register, "it could halt the release of Vista and the Longhorn server suite. The case relates to a 1996 contract between Microsoft and Veritas which licensed the latter’s software for dealing with large chunks of data."
It’s been many moons since Bill and the Boyz decided online security should be added to their fiefdoms and Symantec was one of the companies challenged as a result.

I wonder if the court system will overload one day with all the frivolous lawsuits and collapse.
