Loudeye buys Overpeer
p2pnet.net News:- Loudeye Corp is the new owner of online scalp-hunter Overpeer, which it describes as a "digital media data mining, anti-piracy and promotional solutions" provider.
The buy is, "aimed at converting billions of unmonetized digital media transactions in unauthorized distribution channels into growth and opportunity for digital media companies," says Loudeye.
Loudeye acquired 100% of Overpeer’s stock for some 1.7 million shares of Loudeye common stock, it says.
"Overpeer’s technology integrates seamlessly and transparently into the world’s most popular distributed networks – which are responsible for 90% of file sharing traffic across the globe," states Loudeye.
"Combined with Overpeer’s intuitive, database management system for monitoring download activity, the service is highly effective in protecting digital media files from unauthorized distribution.
"Last month alone, Overpeer experienced 25 billion digital download hits against its servers, effectively blocking the illicit reproduction of copyrighted material across 150 million unique user sessions."
