p2p news / p2pnet: Sony BMG band Pearl Jam says its new single Life Wasted is online under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-NoDerivs license.

you need the google video player in order to download it. otherwise you can watch it online.

i’ll wait for the un-drm’d version to appear in p2p networks.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

that’s no true. i downloaded it as an unportected avi file yesterday

  3. Reader's Write Says:

i went to the google page that’s linked here and that was my result – clicking download started to first download the google player so i canceled it. tell me where to get the avi, please?

If u guys are using firefox then theres a way to get embedded video files from sites like google videos, youtube, etc.
First off u’ll need the greasemonkey extension, this allows u to run user scripts on web-pages (to make a web page run the way u want). Get it from addons.mozilla.org. Then head over to http://www.userscripts.org and u’ll find custom user made scripts. The one ur looking for is in the video section of the site. Installation instructions are given. Once everything is setup, when u open a google videos page, it’ll provide the download link of the video to save on ur disk.
I assure u it isn’t as complicated as I’m making it out to be :D

    EDIT (Same poster as above):

Just found out theres an extension to specially do this: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/ without the need of greasemonkey or scripts.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

i installed the addon and i still get the same thing. clicking download starts to dl the google player and clicking “Manually download the video” only dls a 1MB file with a .gvp ext.

i do not see a way to download the video like you did. please explain how. thanks.

  7. Reader's Write Says:

    thank u very very much

Are you people on crack? You don’t have to choose the Windows version, get the iPod or PSP versions.

You’ll only need a h264 codec, such as x264 or those supplied with commercial video packages like Nero Video.

  9. Reader's Write Says:

I use the Greasemonkey method and it woks like a charm for me. I would’ve posted the link for the script for u guys, but looks like userscripts.org(where I got it from) is having some problems. Try searching google for Gresemonkey scripts for downloading embedded files on webpages.

I have the script installed but I dunno how to upload them here. If anyone does, tell me and I’ll do it

  10. Reader's Write Says:

Just download the iPod or PSP version. It’s an MPEG4 doofus.

  11. Reader's Write Says:

LOL of course it’s free. Who would pay for anything from Pearl Jam post-<i>Vs.</i>?
