Boom times for Net advertising
p2p news / p2pnet: The amount of money companies are lashing out to try to talk you into buying product has gone up.
"More advertising spending has found its way into the coffers of companies like Google and Yahoo," says WebProNews.
And, in a "new record," web advertising brought in an estimated $3.9 billion in the first quarter of 2006, a 38% increase over Q1 2005, when $2.8 billion was spent online, says the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, quoted by BrandWeek.
"By the end of 2005, Web ad spending had grown to $3.6 billion," it says.
But, "While the numbers released Tuesday show fast-paced growth, online ad revenue is still dwarfed by traditional media, which earned $125 billion in 2005, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus."
Moreover, "The money should keep coming," says WebProNews, which has PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Peter Petrusky saying,
"It is abundantly clear that marketers are seeing a compelling opportunity to leverage the Internet as a powerful medium that drives both branding and sales results."
