Scottish CamPhone ban
p2pnet.net News:- Camera phones have been banned at 77 primary and secondary schools in West Lothian in Scotland.
That’s because of fears of how images taken within the school could be misused by paedophiles, says a silicon.com story here.
"A report on the BBC claims some schools have reported instances of pupils taking photos of one another during PE lessons and then distributing them over the internet, raising fears that the pictures, once in the public domain, could fall into the wrong hands," says the report, going on:
"The ban is backed by the local education authority as well as the Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association.
It means also parents who believe their kids should have phones so they can maintain contact with them may now have to buy new, camera-less units.
In that respect, "I’d tell the school to shove it unless they are going to fund it," silicon.com quotes Debbie Allen, a 28-year-old mother of two, as saying.
