Everyone hates them but low behold when we get burgled or attacked- we all need the Police. Secondly, instead of people moaning about the Police, try getting involved and becoming a Special, actually try to make a difference. And attacked!! okay so you get randomly punched in the street one night, what do the police ever , ever do, unless you yourself know who the attacker was, the police will never find them! and if you do know who it was then you've done the polices' job for them!! "try getting involved and becoming a Special, actually try to make a difference" what so you can walk round the street with community officer written on your back, which any teenager knows means that you are not a real copper. And therefore no real powers you are a walking asbo, absolutly no deterrent for crime! so you tell us how that makes a difference? Yes speed cameras, on their basic principle are a good thing for absolute nutters who drive at 40, 50 or 100 miles an hour through a school crossing, but spending money on coppers to sit on their arses in a car all day to collar some poor sod who did 33 in a 30 to give nothing but a fine is ludicrous, not only to the current economy but to police /public realtions. Wether you like it or not there is a massive divide between the public and the police, and not just between hardened criminals but the general public and it is the police who need to ask themselves why? (As a Special Constable in the UK I think it’s about time people found some sense when discussing the Police….
