I don’t like the word ‘bought’
p2p news / p2pnet: “On May 19, I wrote a post essentially about Bob Lefsetz and his section of the Rhino Podcast,” says Emusic.
p2pnet aficianados will recognize Lefsetz’s name, but for those who don’t, his frequently heretical newsletter is one of the most widely read items on events and happenings in the word of music, past and present.
“I explained that the podcast was part by him but didn’t mention what the rest of the weekly cast was about,” says Emusic. “There’s usually an interview with another Rhino artist hosted by some other guy. His name escapes me right now. I even went to Rhino.com’s podcast page and they mention Lefsetz, but not ‘the other guy.’
But he deserves his props, says the post, going on:
“Anyway….. Show #36 from May 30, 2006 features and interview of Chrissie Hynde of ‘The Pretenders’ fame.
“Rhino is about to release a new box set of Pretenders music called ‘Pirate Radio‘ that includes over 5 hours of music and a DVD of live performances.
“At one point, the interviewer guy asks about the demo versions of songs that later became album cuts. Her [Hynde 's] response:
Obviously, there might be someone out there that bought the records these [demos] come from so it’s also to cater to, you know, put a few versions on that people haven’t bought on album. I don’t even like to use the word ‘bought’ because it, you know, it stinks the house out.
I’m all for piracy and downloading and you know, get it however you can but there’s a few ardent fans out there that might want some more obscure versions.
“The artist has spoken. I’d love to see her mp3 collection! Get the Rhino podcast. You’ll learn something.”

…one of the coolest bad girls of rock ever. maybe even the coolest. i’ve been a huge fan since her very early days with The Runaways. (ok, she’s tied with Joan Jett for coolest!)
other so-called “artsts” should follow her example.

If only she’d give props to various ripping groups.
Mebbe show her support of what we do! *grin*
