<description>Well first of all everyone knows instant messaging and IRC is wire-tapped. Its been that way since 1999 that i can recall when the FBI first introduced their undernet project. Operation fastlink (fbi again) had its own Linknet server with linknet ircop. All IRCD&#039;S are had.

carnivore (echlon for the older generation) has been around since what? 1996 or so?

The programmers of IRCD&#039;s have bitched about feds approching them to build backdoors into their IRCD&#039;s since when?? 1997 or so?

The Magic Lantern project has been around since when? 1999 or so?

All AUS traffic goes through gov servers. Same with UK. Think North America is going to be very different?

Think CSIS isn&#039;t involved in this?

AUS legalized police and gov spyware/keylogging projects. FBI/cia fund similar projects. Think CSIS doesn&#039;t?

The above is all pre- 9/11. Just a hunch, but i think post-9/11 involves more than the above now ;)

IM/IRC, encrypted or not, all had or can be had. But this has been known since the late 90&#039;s.

I am very sure this will push (Canadian) bill C-74 (don&#039;t know if an article was ever done here on C-74). But Canadians should be aware of it. Its also known at the MITA act or most commonly known as &quot;lawfull access&quot;.

There is now even a gov &quot;CYBER SECURITY TASK FORCE&quot;
http://direct.srv.gc.ca/cgi-bin/direct500/XEou%3dOACSTF-BSGTC%2cou%3dCSTFS-GTCS%2cou%3dCSTFS-GTCS%2cou%3dPSEPC-SPPCC%2co%3dGC%2cc%3dCA

Now with the above comes responsibility of informing the public and having other groups involved like a member of the privacy commissioner etc to keep an eye on things as a 3rd party to protect rights.

Its inevitable today. But what is not acceptable is what happening in the States with mass communication mining w/o peoples knowledge and no watch-dog to over-see and protect rights etc.

Bill C-74 was rejected for this. But i am sure this will now be revisited very shortly again. Keep your eyes open for it.

Don&#039;t even think for a second your encrypted irc channel, regular irc channel, SSL IRCD with blowfish encrypted channel is safe and only you can see it.... Puh-lease.

If i&#039;m not mistaken, current laws allow CSIS to tap you, no court order required, as opposed to other &quot;police&quot; agencies.

So bitch about the gov about what? Things people should know and should have known about since 1997 when this info was first reported?

National security, and the mass mining/profiling of ordinary people are two different things. And, the rejection of bill C-74 shows this and supports this, in my opinion.

Then again, I support that illegal Alien picking yuur locks stealing your salami sandwhich and... i won&#039;t say it, to f&#039;n rude.

;)

<description>of course, it was the government that sold them the fertilizer. They can&#039;t create their NWO police state without inventing the enemies!

And that soldering iron, the multimeter, and the grill , clearly terrorist tools, what else would such things ever be used for?

good thing theyre monitoring all our communications. see, if you don&#039;t support your private conversations being eavsdropped upon then you are supporting terrorism!
