HP R707 fire hazard
p2p news / p2pnet: Hewlett-Packard says there’s a fire hazard in its HP R707 digital cameras.
"HP customers who have the R707 Camera are asked to obtain and install a free firmware upgrade from HP," says the company, continuing:
"When the R707 camera is used with a non-rechargeable battery, such as a Duracell CP-1, the camera can cause the battery to overheat resulting in a burn and fire hazard while the camera is connected to the ac adapter or camera docking station."
Updated firmware can be downloaded here.

“Scary that a software bug can cause a fire.”
It just sounds like the camera is trying to charge a non-rechargeable battery. The new firmware probable just turns off the in-camera charger.
