The Pirate Bay: no worries

p2pnet: Service over at The Pirate Bay has been somewhat spotty since it re-appeared on a Dutch host after a concerted attack by Hollywood’s MPAA (Motion Picture Association), fronted by the Swedish police.

Although this made some people wonder if traffic is being filtered, or data being lost, that’s not the case, Wired News has TPB admin Peter saying.

"The database problem is actually that we have so many new users and the current hardware setup isn’t tuned perfectly," he told Wired News in an IM interview.

"It takes a while to get everything right in a complex system like The Pirate Bay…. We’ve had some 404 problems with torrent-downloading, but that is due to overload and some bugs in our software. They will be fixed in a couple of days."

Peter says site administrators had backup copies of the website and its contents when police carted off The Pirate Bay’s servers in the May 31 raid, says the story.

Meanwhile, "Despite the raid, Peter says he doesn’t expect any of his group to face criminal charges in Sweden," says Wired News, adding:

"He doesn’t know if Dutch authorities are likely to stage a similar assault on the new servers, but insists the group is preparing still more contingencies. "We’re … setting up sites in other countries still."

    There latest blog reads
    Just some stats…
    Just some stats…

… here are some reasons why TPB is down sometimes - and how long it usually takes to fix:

Tiamo gets *very* drunk and then something crashes: 4 days

Anakata gets a really bad cold and noone is around: 7 days

The US and Swedish gov. forces the police to steal our servers: 3 days

    .. yawn.

These guys have a sense of humour

When reading about the latest MPAA ‘action’ against TPB, do the words “Whack a Mole” pop into anyone else’s head?

  3. Reader's Write Says:

    No.

Just bunch of idiots and waste of time

    ha ha
