Young Swedes OK downloading
p2p news / p2pnet: More than 75% of first-time voters in Sweden, aged 18-20, believe downloading is OK, even if it is perceived to be illegal.
So says The Local, quoting a poll conducted by the Swedish paper Sydsvenskan and Temo Synovate survey.
When asked to respond to the loaded statement “I think it is OK to download files from the Net, even if it is illegal,” some 38% said they, “adamantly agreed while 39 percent said they partly agreed,” says the story.
The survey was carried out the week before the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) instigated police raid on The Pirate Bay, which moved to Holland and was back online within a couple of days, again thumbing its nose at the Big Six Hollywood studios.
"File sharing could be a hot topic come election time," says The Local.
"Only the Centre Party and the Green Party voted against the anti-file-sharing decision in Parliament last year.
"Internet downloading has united the political right and left in Sweden. Support is strongest among the Liberal Party, the Moderates and the Left Party, Sydsvenskan reported."

NOTE: p2pnet is being sued by Sharman Networks and Nikki Hemming, ceo of p2p application Kazaa. "The suit is a little odd, since P2PNet.net is a champion of peer-to-peer file-sharing, which is the same business that Kazaa is in," says The Globe & Mail. “downloading is OK, even if it is perceived to be illegal”
Meaning that the law and the people are perceived to be out of sync. Food for thought for the politicians.

Also meaning that young Swedes are getting balanced information and not just **AA/MSM propaganda. The Pirate Party and The Pirate Bay are probably the ones to thank for that. Seeing their government cave in to cartels so easily (read TPB bust) shows you at which point governments of any stripe don’t give a shit about the electorate once in power.
