Verizon child-care service
p2p news / p2pnet: Verizon has come up with a way to make money out of parents who can’t keep track of their own kids.
Its location-based services from Verizon Wireless, “give parents tools to help communicate with and identify the whereabouts of their young children’s Migo phones”.
And just to make sure, it’s also launched a promo site, which it claims is “educational,” with, “materials that explain the benefits of Chaperone and how best to use the service”.
Here. According to Verizon, is how it works:
- Buy your Chaperone Capable phones
- Wait for your phones to arrive
- Add Chaperone to your account
- Go to Set Up & Manage to complete your Chaperone Set Up
The Chaperone Child Locator is $10 a month and Child Zone costs $20, plus an LG Migo phone.
Costing $50 after a $30 rebate under a two year contract, a Migo is a, “voice-only device, not a child-management tool,” says Verizon.
Meanwhile, “Chaperone is only available to Verizon Wireless customers on a Family Share Plan to help restrict unauthorized use of the service,” says the company.
