Apple, Creative row escalates
p2p news / p2pnet: An investigation into whether or not Apple’s iPod infringes a Creative Technology patent has been launched by the US International Trade Commission, says Creative.
Last year the company said it would, "pursue aggressively" its US patent on a system used to navigate music on digital players, later demanding a ban on iPod sales in the US.
Apple countered with an initial lawsuit against Creative, following up with another patent infringement claim.
Now, "Creative said the case will be referred to Administrative Law Judge Paul Luckern, who will hold hearings and make an initial determination as to whether a violation was committed," says Wired News.
"The commission typically issues a ruling about 12 months to 15 months after an investigation starts."
