Microsoft vs Vista Torrent
p2p news / p2pnet: Vistatorrent.com received the well known “cease and desist” letter from Microsoft. Apparently they are still planning to take down the internet.
Although the demand for Microsoft’s second Vista Beta is extremely high, Microsoft refused to release a torrent. They stated:
There are legal and privacy issues which unfortunately make that not an option for Microsoft to officially sponsor a BitTorrent.
In a response to this, vistatorrent.com and bittorrent.com created a torrent for the popular download, but although it saves Microsoft some bandwidth, they don’t like it.
Vistatorrent.com just removed the torrent, but there’s still a copy on bittorrent.com (update: bittorrent.com removed the torrent).
Probably not for long so here’s a picture (right) …

“There are legal and privacy issues which unfortunately make that not an option for Microsoft to officially sponsor a BitTorrent.”
‘A’ BitTorrent? BitTorrent is a technology, not some widget that can be subjected to quantification, like popsicles or websites.
Here again, we see another corporate behemoth that doesn’t get it, nor doesn’t even seem to comprehend the available technologies in the domain they are supposedly the dominant force in. What am I not surprised?

I get much higher transfer speeds from microsoft’s site vs bittorrent anyway. Why would I want to upload Vista while downloading when I can just download it straight from MS.
