Hollywood’s China woes
p2p news / p2pnet: Around 93% of all films sold in China are counterfeits, claims Hollywood’s MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) in its latest sci-fi release.
Speaking through its Motion Picture Association (MPA) clone, it says copies in China cost Hollywood’s Big Six movie companies $2.7 billion, says the BBC.
The corporate entertainment and software industries routinely release so-called ‘piracy’ figures detailing supposed losses without any kind of explanation as to how the numbers are arrived at; and, the puff pieces are just as routinely repeated by the mainstream media as thought they were issued by credible sources.
Moreover, says the BBC, according to the MPA, almost 40% of the losses come from people downloading films on the internet.
"The MPA is also frustrated at its lack of access to the Chinese market," says the story, adding:
"Only 20 foreign films are allowed into the country each year, it says – and even those face restrictions on their runs."
Lucky China.

Who cares? Movies are an artform. If the producer really wanted to express him/herself, he/she would not care. Do you really think Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt are losing any money? Do they need the money? Give me a break.
