Top of the Pops deleted
p2p news / p2pnet: Britain’s famous Top of the Pops, the Coronation Street of the UK TV music scene, is being dropped after 42 years.
The last show will be aired on July 30, says the BBC, going on, "This morning on Breakfast we spoke to Sir Jimmy Savile, who presented the first ever edition of the programme. He told us: ‘We are today very, very, proud because the egg we laid then – well just look at what it has spawned’."
But that’s not all Auntie wrote, a p2pnet reader points out.
Pete Waterman was on as well, and he said something to the effect that claims that downloads kill sales are rubbish.
Apparently, he also said a lot of the music available today is rubbish, too.
On the TOTP deletion, "Oh, bum," says Tae M.
(Thanks, Andrew)

cnni teletext is also reporting the lie that downloads (they don’t say if they’re “legal” or not) killed the show.
actually, the beeb killed it themselves starting a few years ago when they began franchising out totp and other popular bbc shows. most – if not all – of the bbc’s franchises have failed.
besides the franchising failures, every year for the past 5-6 years, the show has been reformatted, revamped, and shortened, mainly showcasing girl/boy (non) “bands” which appeal to the bubble-gum snapping, cellphone toting, texting-happy spoiled teenager.
it’s been a real long while since real musicians performed on totp, and performed live – not lip-synched. the only chance to see them now will be if they continue airing totp2.
good riddance, totp. you suck, and have done so for years.
