UK ‘Don’t sue p2p fans’ petition
p2p news / p2pnet: The managers of Avril Lavigne, The Streets and Elbow are amongst those who’ve signed an online petition organized by Flowerburger Records naming the British music industry for suing fans who use p2p networks.
For British music industry read EMI (UK), Warner Music (US), Vivendi Universal (France) and Sony BMG (Japan, Germany), the Big Four Organized Music labels who jointly own the BPI, the so-called British Phonographic Industry, a clone of the RIAA, CRIA, ARIA and all the other ‘trade’ associations being used by the Big Four in their warped and bitter efforts to sue their own customers into buying product.
The petition, “invites people to show their distaste for the ongoing policy of the British record industry’s trade association, the BPI, of threatening fans with legal action unless they pay sizeable fines”.
Flowerburger Records was founded by Chris Thomas who states:
“We believe that musicians have to be paid for their work, but we don’t think that suing fans or the parents of kids on £5 a week pocket money is the answer. We are supposed to be a creative industry, so we should be exploring ways to earn money for our artists from p2p, not using the destructive force of litigation.”
When p2pnet (Canada) signed up at 6:20 Pacific, we joined 668 others from the UK, Australia, Northern Ireland and the US.
(Thanks, Ray)

From what I have read regarding Flowerburger, they seem as though they are trying to do good but in fact doing nothing at all. To me this is just promotion for their only act on the label…Amy Thomas??? And who is she?? No ones heard of her! And dont get me started on how Avril Lavigne’s managers have signed the petition??? Why the hell would you want to promote that they signed the petition…the biggest money grubbing puppeteers in the world!!!!(ooops it appears i did get started on it.) Anywho im over this rant.
