Google to exploit videos
p2p news / p2pnet: Google wants even more advertisers than present to pollute the Net. So it’s started offering free commercial videos.
The idea is to, "attract more users and the advertisers seeking to reach them," says Bloomberg News.
The videos, "usually sell from 30 cents to $14.99," according to Google.
"Video Web services will become increasingly important, which means extra infrastructure capacity is needed and as a result big investments will be necessary," the story has Jankees Ruizeveld, "who helps manage the equivalent of $2.2 billion in equities at Optimix Vermogensbeheer NV in Amsterdam, including Google shares," saying.
And, "We are always looking for ways to show targeted and engaging advertising to users and we think that Google Video is a natural extension of this ongoing effort," Google is quoted as saying.
By way of example, yesterday, a Burger King commercial was inserted into the cartoon Felix the Cat, a Hewlett-Packard ad appeared on the Charlie Rose talk show and Netflix advertised on a show from the Documentary Channel, observes The San Francisco Chronicle.
Google says, "videos submitted by users will continue to be available without commercials," says the story.
But, For how long? – one wonders.
