There is something you can do. Write or email your house rep's and senators and anyone else you can think of. It's not that hard.

It is interesting that the US Government wants to censor some types of news that the media is allowed to publish in its own country. And yet, it has decided that it is not OK for the Chinese government to practise censorship of Yahoo, Google etc in China? It is up to individual governments to decide what should be public information for its own citizens and what is not. It is not for the US Government to decide what should be public information for citizens of OTHER COUNTRIES.

You idiots are completely ignorant to think that your actions have not been monitored all your life. What do you think your bank does? Your schools, your government. Jackass!!
Hey, I've got a great idea. Let's cut off any attempt to monitor communication so in hindsight we can let a terrorist behead the Canadian Prime Minister and let's let them attack and blow up our buildings and kill our parents and children.
Most of you on this site will not see what is coming until your family is in pieces all around you. Then your frikken selfish ass will realize that extremists want to kill you and anyone who does not conform. Think conforming to OUR government is hard and unfair? Try living with the Taliban.
Screw the New York Times. I used to respect that paper until I found out their standards of truth are for sale! Google them and read up.

What's disgraceful is the fact that a president sworn to uphold the constitution and the laws of the land is violating the law and the provisions of the constitution protecting the citizenry from unlawful searches and seizures. These guys don't care about the law. Then they have the gall to jump the times! Cheney, Bush, Rove, the whole lot of 'em wouldn't know a war if they saw it. They do know how to let others do the sacrificing and dying. There is no such thing as a war on terror, at least not in the classic sense. you do not field armies you fight with special ops and covert operatives. The whole thing about a "war on terror" or their classic we are "at war," is bullshit. Bush made the scenario and now he's playing to it. All his word game buddies talking about cutting and running. These guys use words with no substance which sound catchy...a bunch of spinners and there is no substance to them...just a bunch of frats playing around while others die. The bastards are bankrupting the country, raising interest on student loans, trying to kill Soc Sec and Medicare, giving their kiss ass buddies like that Exxon slob who retired with 400 million in tax breaks. I guarantee that none of it "trickled down." Freedom of the press forever!!!!!!!

The irony of the bush admin calling the NYT disgraceful would be hysterical if their relentless attacks on the US constitution and the American public's freedoms were not such a dark ugly reality.

"At least he will not be able to run again...there's a constitutional ammendment that prevents that. But then again, the US Constitution doesn't matter to these people. "

The constitution is toilet paper to these fucks.
I can see it now " President postpones elections due to terrorist threats "

Even if that doesn't happen, like I said, it doesn't matter.
The Corporate controlled democrat will get the seat.

The deck IS stacked.

As long as they can keep it secret, no one knows they are doing anything near breaking the law as far as public awareness goes.

This war on terror thing has been stretched like a rubber band to include of all things, p2p. Come on now. Lets get real here. You can't finance anything on ideas. You actually have to pay for stuff with money for any sort of financing to occur. Without transfer of money there can be no financing of terror through p2p. Fortunately, there is no money transfer in it and the smoke and mirrors are exposed for what they really are.

This sort of secretiveness was just what Watergate was about. It is also what allowed it to remain uncovered for as long as it was. Bush has this convient idea that national security covers everything he doesn't like known. It don't work that way. Yes, there are valid items that would fall under national security but that doesn't include every move he or his underlings do. This blanket secrecy has been abused far too long.

It is through exposure that we find out about abuses. Those like the AT&T turning over phone records just because they are asked and not going through recognised court procedure to do so. Without it being exposed in national media, no one would ever know.

So how convient it is to claim national security when it is found out that the spying isn't just on domestic but being attempted to be world wide. When one thinks about it, it isn't very well hid to begin with. There were a lot of exposures to banks that did funding let out into public media with all sorts of claims right after 9/11. Surely no one thinks it was concidence that the data just happened to come up? I mean, duh! There was everything but tactic admission about obtaining the data. Where and how would one think this data came to be if not through some sort of spying program?

Seriously, if a bunch of lamescream 'journo's', to use the term loosely, can find this out this kind of stuff, i'm pretty confident that the terrorists and other assorted Evil Doers out there could as well.

The scary part is, that there's a whole lot of people out there, who'll believe every word, and demand that the media 'become answerable to the proper authorities'.

Which is, of course, exactly what Bush Pty Ltd is counting on.

"House Homeland Security Committee chairman Pete King is demanding a criminal investigation and prosecution of The New York Times, its reporters, the editors that worked on this and the publisher,"

Why not better investigate the Homeland Security fiasco at New Orleans.

Oh, I forgot.
The Homeland Security fiasco cannot be investigated by congress because all the guilt falls in that very same congress and none other than their leader, Bush.

""Most Americans seem to support extraordinary measures in defense against this extraordinary threat, "

I have not personally met one single american that thought
that this was acceptable. Not .. one.

"Seriously, ... americans, if you don't somehow elect this madman out of your office, your country is getting royally fucked over! (and it's NOT by terrorists!) "

2 things prevent this from happening.
1. We have been programmed to vote Either Dem or Rep, with
viable third parties being carefully hidden out of sight, and the
" a vote for a 3rd party will let the other guy win " mentality,
very carefully and deliberately cultivated by the media.
This insures that either a Dem or rep WILL win, and both are
owned and operated by the same corporations, and special
   interests. We're stupid.
2. There hasn't been a REAL election in ages. The last one was
almost openly rigged. We all saw it, we all forgot.
     We're stupid.

It won't change unless we vote our conscience, and stop voting
out of fear. but ... We're stupid.
