Dell in China laptop CPU row
p2p news / p2pnet: Chinese consumers say they’re planning to sue Dell for putting the wrong CPU into some laptops.
"The problem was first identified by a consumer who bought a Dell Inspiron 640M laptop online," says ChinaTechNews, going on:
"When the consumer tried to upgrade the EMS memory within the computer, he found that the laptop was fixed with a T2300E CPU, not the T2300 Dell marked on the order form."
Some 50 other users responded, saying they had identical problems.
"The CPU Inter T2300E is RMB300 cheaper than T2300, and it can not support some virtual technology," says ChinaTechNews.
But Dell says there’s no difference for consumers using CPU T2300 or T2300E, “and they will not reimburse consumers for the incorrect configuration,” adds the story.

“and they will not reimburse consumers for the incorrect configuration,”
So the chip they got is cheaper, and Dell itself calls it an “incorrect configuration”.
Hmmm. Interesting. Wouldn’t buy a Dell on a bet.
