greatest sympathies to Syds family and friends, with all respect, i cant seem to understand why people thing hes a legend and a great credit to the music world, ive heard a lot of syds own music, which i thought was really simple, which had terrible vocals and was cheaply put together. however, he was the founder of The Pink Floyd, so we owe him a huge applause for that. There are not many people that enter this world that are like Syd Barrett.His music was not from this world ,he bought us a gift that not many have the ability that he had.
Your Genius will always be remembered by myself and all your true fans,you were a wonderfull person and was glad to of known your music.You bought me a wonderfull joy from your music.
You will be saddly missed though always remembered in my heart!

I hate to be a party pooper but the man fried his brain on lsd when it was still legal in 1966 or 1967 and he ruined his life over it.

In general Drug addicts don’t live to be old.

Take a look at Jerry Garcia.

I saw that crazy fucker 6 months at the Warfield in San Francisco before he died in 1995.

He looked like a old man but he was only 53………….

The man was a herion addict for years and he died at the Serenity Knolls Rehab center in northern California.

He was always the butt of people’s jokes ie; “Uncle Jerry ” or “Captain Trips”.

what can i say….words cannot discribe how i”m feeling right now….syd barret was a genuis indeed….he and pink floyd played a big part that made me the guitarist that i am now….he will be missed so mush..R.I.P.and may you find peace and love where ever you are…you will for ever be.. that shining star….

While I’m saddened at the news of Syd Barrett’s death, I hope it serves as a lesson, especially to the other members of Pink Floyd. Life on earth is too short to be caught up in petty arguments and over-inflated egos. Each remaining member of Pink Floyd has a specific gift which, when brought together, created magic. They have been my favorite group for the last 39 years and I’ve been in awe of their wonderful music and lyrics. Each separate tour has been lacking because they haven’t performed together. Last August’s Live 8 performance was a dream come true for me, and I’m sure for many other fans. I pray that they get back together again and create the magic for themselves and us.
