Pirates of the world, Unite!

p2p news / p2pnet: A proliferation of Pirate Parties is already evident and now some of the pro-consumer organizations have banded together to form the Pro Piracy Lobby.

“PPL is a cooperative group between pirate organisations, devoted to free culture, in several countries,” says piracy unlimited, going on:

“Rumour has it that several other groups are interested in joining the cooperation. The Pro Piracy Lobby is what the name implies - an organisation aimed at coordinating the pirate movement’s lobby efforts internationally in a more effective manner, a way to make these ideas available to people throughout the world.”

“We needed a breath of fresh air, an adventure,” says the new group’s site. And it goes on:

We knew there were others hoisting the same pirate flag as we did and that we had a mighty fleet. This is why we started the Pro Piracy Lobby.

We have agreed on a platform based on three statements:

  • Kopimi - We will copy whatever we want. Make p2p legal or just accept it!

  • Free networking, everywhere by anyone!

  • Don’t touch our Internets! No more efforts to limit, monitor or sabotage use of the net!

Kopimi - We will copy whatever we want. Make p2p legal or just accept it!

We are the Internet. We know it, we feel it, we live it and we are here to tell the world that p2p will never be stopped, can’t be stopped and shouldn’t be stopped. The Internet is a vast global network, screaming with life and the creativity of millions of minds. We will choose to explore it in any way we please and we don’t need guidance.

Free networking, everywhere by anyone!!

We live in a time defined by the Internet. It preceeds everything else. Everything new and interesting begins there. Every important event and all the fun in the world too. The freedom of developing and offering networking services of any kind, even anonymously and free of charge, should be considered a self-evident right.

Don’t touch our Internets! No more efforts to limit, monitor or sabotage use of the net!

When we talk about price, we don’t mean what the price for copy-protected music should be or how much artists are supposed to be compensated for supposed loss due to file sharing. We mean what price the anti piracy lobby organisations and governments are willing to pay to get rid of file sharing? The only way is to shut down the entire Internet and even then we will soon rebuild our own. Anti pirates of Hollywood and the world, don’t touch our Internet!

The Pro Piracy Lobby will continue to grow along with the expansion of a positive understanding of piracy and filesharing. Our mission is to bring forth a progressive Internet development, our goal being no less than the ruling of the the seven seas!

And here’s the official press release:

Following the raid against the popular file sharing website The Pirate Bay, several Nordic organizations launch the international project The Pro Piracy Lobby. Their aim is to create a common ground for further discussion and cooperation.

- The interest in file sharing, piracy and the Internet in general increases exponentially each day, says Tobias Andersson from the swedish Piratbyrån (The Bureau of Piracy). Pirate groups and parties are being grown as flowers in springtime.

In Scandinavia cooperation across borders has already been fruitful. The swedish Piratbyrån has acted offensively and succeeded in inspiring the startup of both a Danish and a Norwegian Pirate Group. Together with the international file sharing website The Pirate Bay, Scandinavia has established itself as a prominent figure in the debate concerning intellectual property and piracy.

- Together we have accomplished a great foundation for bringing forth critique of the dominant media corporations, says Claus Pedersen from the danish Piratgruppen (The Piracy Group). We have become an important actor in the ongoing debate.

Lately, several actors have entered the international arena. Talks are being held with several independent Pirate Groups, but also piracy has entered the realm of politics. In several European countries, and also the U.S., political parties dedicated to piratism have emerged, inspired by the Swedish Pirate Party.

- We hope to soon present a world wide pirate network, says Tobias Andersson. First and foremost we want to offer our consultive services in starting and operating local groups.

Definitely stay tuned.

(Thanks, Lars)

And so the grass movement begins. Critical mass has been reached and the cartels are in for a ride on a downwardly increasing spiral. They’ve had a lot of success with buying their laws and bringing it to public attention. They’ve had a lot of success with the publicity and controlling mass media.

What has been forgotten is that those corporations depend on the public for their economic well being. The public is getting their news not from the controlled mass media but opting instead for ever increasing unbiased Internet sources. Organization is beginning at Joe Public to fight this mess created by money and greed.

It’s not just Joe Public that is threatened. Those corporations whose creativity is being restricted by the ever increasing restrictions the cartels want to place on world and national level are starting to object also. Those politicians at the cartels money trough had best take notice. The citizens of those nations are getting ready to vote them out of office in favor of someone who can actually look out for the interests of their own countries above party and lobby.

Joe Public has yet to wake up and discover what the broadcast flag is over. It has been the hope of the cartels that it could be slid in without notice until it was a done deal. There will shortly be repercussions to the digital changeover dealing with TV broadcasts. When Joe finds out his bread and circus has been removed until he buys a converter to make his tv work (and even then won’t display in true digital quality) he’s not going to be happy. The rest of the world will be faced with the same thing shortly thereafter as the material begins to require them to also do the same.

We always said that suing your customer wasn’t a good idea. It has created a resentment against the cartels that they will be luckily to survive in the long haul.

These copying and distributing cartels will NOT survive because their business is obsolete in the digital age! Every smart artist can setup these days his own digital distribution channel that is not controlled by the MAFIAA criminals

And because they know that, thats why they use police state powers and bribed lawmakers to keep this useless businessmodell alive a few more years.
