CIPPIC wins $50K grant
p2p news / p2pnet: CIPPIC (Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic) has been awarded $50,000 by Canadian privacy commissioner Jennifer Stoddart.
The award comes as part of a total of $388,319 awarded to 11 organizations through her Office’s Contributions Program for research into emerging privacy issues, including surveillance technologies, privacy policies aimed at children and the use of DNA in the criminal justice system.
The program was designed to support non-profit research that furthers the development of a national research capacity in Canada in the broad spectrum of issues impacting privacy, says her web site.
Research under this year’s awards will include DRM technology and the de-identification of personal information, says Stoddardt.
