p2pnet forum search
p2pnet.net News:- Ran Geva has been turning out some very cool, very useful free applications for quite a while.
DIYP2P means Do-It-Yourself p2p and it’s based on nucDNA, so the program you create can connect to G1 or G2 or both already packed with files and users.
With DIYP2P, you don’t need to know c/c++. Basically all you need to do is to think of a cool name, logo and a slick UI and you are set, Geva told us. You can think of DIYP2P as an open source project for non programmers.
He’s also the man behind Peer2Mail, the first application designed to let you store and share files on any web-mail account. P2M splits the file you want to share/store, zips and encrypts it, and then sends the file segments one by one to your account. Once it’s uploaded the file segments, you download them and use P2M to merge the segments back to the original file.
But Geva’s latest app is Omgili, or, Oh My God, I Love It ;p
So what is it and what does it do?
Omgili (Beta) is a search engine designed to index web-based discussion forums.
It’s customizeable and its, “unique algorithm analyzes forums not as a simple web page, but as an active discussion with a title, topic and replies,” says Geva, and on the site FAQ:
Omgili was created to separate ordinary web pages from information rich discussion forums. The information contained in online forums is typically presented in a “question and answer” or debate style format. How is this significant?
You’ll often have a questions that have already been answered, says the FAQ, so using Omgili, “you can avoid posting already asked questions and quickly find your answer. Unlike ordinary search engines that prioritize articles and edited web pages, Omgili only indexes discussion forums. Using Omgili’s advanced search capabilities you can choose to independently search titles, topics or just the replies of a discussion.
“Information from online communities and forums is always a valuable resource. On February 12, 2001, Google announced it acquired DejaNews, a Usenet Discussion search engine. Usenet (Short for User’s Network) is an Internet bulletin-board application that predates the World Wide Web. It is still used today, however with the explosion of web-based discussion forums it has waned in popularity. You can think of Omgili as the DejaNews of web-based discussion forums.”
p2pnet has the first customized version – the new forum search box at the top right of the page. We entered p2pnet. Below are the first three results:
