New French copyright law
p2pnet.net News:- Attempts by vested corporate interests to nullify a new French law on Internet copyright have failed.
“France’s Constitutional Court on Thursday left the thrust of a new law on Internet copyright unchanged, despite criticising parts of the legislation passed by parliament last month relating to online music stores,” says Reuters.
Passed in June, the law was a, “watered down version of an earlier bill that would have set much tougher requirements on Apple and other big companies involved with online music stores,” says the story, adding:
“France’s opposition Socialists had challenged the watered down version, saying it surrendered to big companies and sacrificed consumer interests.”
