CNN to ‘help’ bloggers
p2pnet.net News:- Time Warner’s CNN believes it’s figured out a way to exploit blogs and bloggers, at the same time bolstering its own failing services.
It plans to, “standardize how it solicits and handles user-contributed news amid an industry-wide move to let consumers play a more prominent role in the news gathering process,” says Reuters.
“Let” consumers “play a more prominent role in the news gathering process” That’s nice of them.
“The cable news network on Tuesday plans to announce it has created a new program to let users send in digital audio and video from breaking news events in their region. Users can e-mail or upload these so-called “I-Reports” directly from CNN’s site,” says the story, going on, “Contributions are vetted by seasoned editors much in the same way all news tips are followed up, Susan Bunda, senior vice president of news at CNN/U.S. said in an interview.”
Are these the same one-sided news editors who keep regurgitating entertainment cartel fluff releases as-is as though they’re genuine news items from credible sources?
CNN’s blogsploit effort is at http://www.cnn.com/exchange.
Meanwhile, blogs and bloggers will continue to report unspun facts.
And who knows, maybe one of these days they’ll let CNN take a shot at it?

In plain english, CNN will layoff costly correspondents and use the free stuff instead. Better for the bottom line.
