Last night (2 AM EST aprox.), my PC rebooted itself, and a message appeared saying that Windows XP had just recovered from a critical error. The problem files were in a temp directory under the Local Settings folder. I didn't think much about it until I got to work, and found out all the computers there had rebooted or shut down completely too. Some of my co-workers had similar problems at home. Most of the PCs at work have XP PRo, but two have Win2K, and they were also affected. The Win2K systems are notable because they are not set up to receive updates automatically. Could this have anything to do with "Patch Tuesday"?

I might be crazy, but I seem to remember another time where my computer received an update from Microsoft that I didn't ask for, and with the automatic update feature turned off...
