Talladega Nights: on p2p charts
p2pnet.net News:- Talladega Nights, “narrowly took the chequered flag again at the US box office at the weekend, racking up $23m (£12m) in its second week amid fierce competition for the top spot,” says The Guardian Unlimited, going on:
“After a decent first day haul of $4.4m last Wednesday, Oliver Stone’s 9/11 tale World Trade Center defied the doomsayers with a more than respectable $19m total over the weekend to take third place.” It now has $26.8m from its first five days, but was beaten to second place by Disney’s Step Up, “which opened with a hip-swinging $21m” despite poor reviews and following a campaign by the mouse house, “to flood the web and music TV stations with dance videos from the film”.
Techno-chiller Pulse took $8.5m and, “The top five was rounded out by the animated tale, Barnyard,” says the story, adding:
“The other debutant in the top 10 was Zoom, about a former superhero called in to turn a bunch of kids at a private academy into mini-superheroes, in at seventh with $4.6.”
But how can that be? All five flics are available on the p2p networks and Talladega Nights and Barnyard both feature on p2pnet’s current Movies File Share Top Ten.
Go figure …
… or could it be that online exposure actually promotes movies, as has often been claimed by movie industry critics, and that Hollywood claims that file sharers are causing calamitous drops in revenue and ruining the movie biz are perhaps a little exaggerated?
