RIAA wants ‘Lindor’ gag order
p2pnet.net News:- Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal Sony BMG, the members of the Big Four Organized Music cartel, are so sure they have you and the mainstream media locked up tight, they believe they can do whatever they want and get away with it.
The Big Four own the RIAA and they recently made a move to demand that RIAA lawyers be allowed to take depositions secretly, the idea being to keep transcripts, and data they contain, totally under wraps.
This would “protect plaintiff’s confidential information,” says RIAA lawyer Richard Gabriel in UMG v Lindor.
But if the demand succeeds, important disclosures could be hidden, mocking the concept of freedom of speech.
It would also help the RIAA to stop the flimsy ‘evidence,’ on which it bases so many of its cases, from being examined in the light of day,
Now, The RIAA has followed through on its threat to seek a gag order in UMG v. Lindor, one which would enable it to designate all or part of each deposition transcript as confidential, and would put the burden on Ms. Lindor of proving why the public should have access, says Recording Industry vs The People.
Go here for the response of her lawyer, Ty Rogers, and here for her motion to force depositions from the ever-reluctant RIAA.
