p2pnet spam floods
p2pnet.net News:- Regular readers will have noticed p2pnet comment posts have for some time been flooded with spam. eJunk mailers have found ways to make automatic mass-submissions and as an example, we’ve include a clip from one such below.
We’re trying to deal with it and have introduced a validation form in an effort to block it.
This has worked to some extent, but it’s not completely successful.
In addition, we’ve been having problems with both the jon@p2pnet.net and newsletter@p2pnet.net email addresses so if you’ve tried to contact us through either and we haven’t responded, that’s why.
However, they both seem to be OK again so please re-send if it was important.
Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience.
Cheers!
Jon

Certainly, their spamming efforts are nothing but a pain. I know it loads a bunch of work on you to clean the mess up, Jon. One would have to be totally brain dead to click on one of those links. Chances are very good you get a free zombie bot program for your curiosity. Anyone so negilent in common courtesy to spam a forum this way isn’t looking out for anyone’s best interests but their own greed.
Woe to the one that rewards such antisocial behaviors with clicking a link provided. It won’t be me.
Another thing that might help the forums is a limitation on how often posts can occur by the same poster. Just a thought.

” Another thing that might help the forums is a limitation on how often posts can occur by the same poster. Just a thought. ”
That would require some sort of IP logging.
P2Pnet doesn’t do that, and I would never want to see them
start.
Maybe that’s what the spammer is after, some sort of
non-existent proof that P2Pnet logs IP’s, or to try to harrass
the site into implementing IP logging, so someone ELSE can
have an easier time suing.
Nope, no IP logging.

How about implementing the “write what’s on the picture you see above in the box below” thing, just to make sure the poster is a human and not a bot……..hold it, nevermind I just noticed it’s already been implemented. Way to go! I love the natural flow of things.

Some feedback on string:
I have two computers.
On one, with Firefox I cannot get posts through. I get:
Validation string not valid!
Firefox has many extensions installed-over 20.
On the same computer with Opera, there is no problem.
On a second computer, Firefox works fine.
