Aussies close ‘Beattie’ site
p2pnet.net News:- The Australian Labor Party (ALP) has forced offline a web site it says defamed premier Peter Beattie and former party members.
The site, which had only been up for 24 hours, also contained misleading information and breached the Electoral Act, says the ABC.
“ALP state secretary Milton Dick says he has also asked Queensland Police to investigate the website, which is believed to be owned by a Brisbane resident,” says the story, adding:
“The ALP is also upset over another website which shows a photograph of Mr Beattie with a pig snout imposed over it.”
Another picture had Beattie, “with a halo of fire around his head with the comments: ‘Gosh I love myself. My government inquiry gave Queensland Health a clean bill of health. No problems. No worries’,” says The Courier Mail, adding:
“Last year an internet domain name linked Mr Beattie to a website showing unauthorised photographs of young children playing at South Bank. The web address was offered on eBay last year starting at $1. It is unknown if it sold.”
