No-button mobile phone
p2pnet.net News:- A no-buttons mobile phone you answer by simply holding it to your ear?
That’s what Synaptics and Pilot Fish are promising.
“The new concept phone uses Synaptics’ ClearPad, an optically clear, capacitive touch screen solution, to create a fully adaptive user interface (UI),” they say in a statement.
“The ClearPad input system eliminates the traditional mechanical keys found on phones today …”
The two companies say ClearPad recognizes points and taps, and also, “shapes, complex gestures, and proximity to the user’s finger or cheek”.
The prototype phone uses a dynamic UI where applications are layered and opened simultaneously, “allowing a seamless flow of information between applications”.
Because life is “activity based,” not “application based,” the concept illustrates how applications such as phone, GPS, music, teleconference and calendar events can work simultaneously, says Synaptics.
“The Onyx concept does not base its experience on treating applications as separate windows or entities that work in isolation. Rather, the Onyx concept seamlessly integrates functions into activity based experiences.”
