No. This isn’t a spoof.
The company is banking on a theory conceived by its marketing experts that a significant number of potential PSP buyers are total dorks.
“The Pink PlayStation 2 is funky, fresh, and fashionable” and will, “further broaden the console’s continuing popularity and relevance with a fun new twist,” PS3 News has PlayStation 2 European brand manager Dan Hill babbling inanely.
The new pink PS2 will ship complete with two pink DualShock Analog controllers and a pink 8MB memory card, says GI, also stating:
“It will also include a UMD featuring videos, live performances and interviews with pop star Pink after Sony signed a new deal with the singer. SCEE’s Stephane Hareau said the launch is about ‘much more than just launching a new colour’, adding: ‘The association with Pink will enable PSP to push new boundaries’."
The pink Sony will be officially unveiled iballitsglory at the Games Convention, Leipzig, 23 – 27, August 2006, says PS3 News.
