Music counterfeiter jailed
p2pnet.net News:- When police raided a New Zealand man’s home, they found more than 1,800 compact music discs and computers and CD burners, says www.stuff.co.nz.
Now the man, Seti Tofaeono, has been jailed for nine months.
New Zealand’s associate arts minister Judith Tizard “welcomed the sentence,” says the story.
Also known as Vile Felafoai, Tofaeono was ordered to pay $8,500 reparation, “to performers and companies he stole from,” says The New Zealand Herald, adding:
“The 46-year-old sold the pirated CDs for about $20 when they would normally retail for between $25 and $35. After burning copies, he used photos of the performers on the covers to make them appear genuine and sold them at Avondale and Otara markets.”
