BT cuts off Euro1Net

p2pnet.net News:- Claiming ISP Euro1Net had failed to pay its bills, BT Wholesale, “pulled the plug on broadband supplies,” cutting of Euro1Net and customers whose email ends in @euro1net.com.

“Telecoms regulator Ofcom is monitoring the situation but cannot confirm whether Euro1Net will refund affected customers,” continues the Press Association.

“In a statement, the Kent-based company apologised for the inconvenience caused,” says the story.

A spokeswoman for BT Wholesale told the BBC, “We would certainly reconsider our decision to cease the service [if Euro1Net met its payments], but as yet we’ve had no indication that the invoices will be paid.”

Industry regulator Ofcom is investigating the dispute, says the story, adding:

“Ofcom said affected customers would be able to re-order broadband after September 5 or order a dial-up internet service immediately. The regulator said: ‘Ofcom understands Euro1Net may not be a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme. Ofcom is seeking to confirm this and will consider any further action as necessary’.”

About About 5,500 customers were affected, says the BBC.

  1. Reader's Write Says:

Hostway Services had 65,000 IP’s null routed last week causing major outages for some major sites, including Wikipedia. This was due to hostway not paying cogent and cogent null routed them on a friday right before closing their billing department for the weekend. As i said, thousands were affected, including my own web server. My hosting company was forced to either wait till the weekend or change our IP blocks off of a hostway owned BGP route.

man did it suck too! My site was down for well into 12 hours. Wikipedia came online much quicker because apparently people must read their encyclopedias and a shit fit was made so cogent turned back on their IP . Leaving everyone to fend for themselves.
