BellSouth ’service fee’ dropped
p2pnet.net News:- BellSouth, after learning the Federal Communications Commission was investigating it and Verizon Communications for possible violations of federal truth-in-billing laws, is, “immediately eliminating” a fee, “designed to recover a number of costs remaining from previous regulatory obligations and other network expenses,” says the Associated Press.
Most of BellSouth’s DSL Internet service customers will see the change on their bills within a week, says the company.
“Both companies have been accused of continuing to collect regulatory fees that the government is no longer assessing,” adds AP.
The story doesn’t say what, if anything, will happen to money already collected.
