SA firm claims p2p first
p2pnet.net News:- South Africa’s POGO says it has the first commercially successful p2p file sharing application in the wireless market.
“The software application brings Internet based peer-to-peer technology to the mobile phone,” MyADSL has POGO managing director Jaysen du Plessis saying.
The app lets users share ringtones, music, games, videos and themes, says the story, going on that it allows messages at 1c per SMS, “as well as access classifieds, body weight calculator and car performance facilities”.
POGO, “compatible with all phone types,” is downloadable to all GPRS and 3G mobile phones that are Java and WAP enabled, says MyADSL, adding:
“POGO carries a once-off download fee and is accessed by sending the POGO keyword to the shortcode 4 20 30. This premium rate service is charged at R30 (about $4). POGO does not bill for any further use of the file sharing facility and users pay only for the airtime to access the Internet.”
