Hollywood worships war

p2pnet.net OT News:- Director Oliver Stone says Hollywood promotes the idea of the US at war.

Speaking at the Venice Film Festival, he cited Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down as films that “worshipped the machinery of war” and said violence is a “cultural problem” for the US.

He was vamping his new movie, World Trade Center, says the BBC, going on:

“He said the late 1990s onwards saw a return of cinema which celebrated the idea of war – unlike his Vietnam films, Platoon, and Born on the Fourth of July.”

His World Trade Center, on the other hand, carried a message of hope.

He’s right. America has many armchair warriors who feel heroic when they watch war movies, and send others off to Iraq while they stay home in their gluttony and comfort.

    Amen my friend

  3. Reader's Write Says:

To the two posters above…GO FUCK YOURSELF! If you can put americans or any other country in one basket and say that is the way the act, then you need to have your head examined!

  4. Reader's Write Says:

I’m an American, and the above posters are correct. America is home to an entertainment industry (and therefore a large group of people) that perpetuates the values of violence and war. And don’t forget, there is no such thing as pure entertainment. All these movies and the such, have subtle or not-so-subtle content and suggestions that war and violence are somehow glorious and righteous.
