ShareReactor: Mark II

p2pnet.net News:- ShareReactor was a (the most?) popular index site for files on the EDonkey network. So says a Wikipedia entry, going on:

“ShareReactor did not host any files; instead, the links it contained were accessible through an EDonkey network client. It was taken down by Swiss Police on March 10th, 2004 due to the suspicion of breach of copyright and trademark laws.”

Now former owner Christian Riesen (aka Simon Moon) says on Respectp2p that he sold he domain a month ago and, “The new owner has now put it back online, with some of the old crew and some content.”

But, “ShareReactor still is an ed2k website, and still features the same contents (and more) it was known for before.”

Riesen emphasises that he no longer has any connections to ShareReactor, suggesting anyone with questions should, “kindly direct them to the new owners, reachable at sharereactor@sharereactor.com or in their forums“.

Meanwhile, shock horror tales suggesting ShareReactor was going, or had actually gone, the way of some of the large commercial p2p file sharing companies seem unfounded.

Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Unversal and Sony BMG, the members of the Big Four Organized Music gang, are using US laws to first crush and then absorb former independent firms such as iMesh and BearShare, and there were fears that ShareReactor had gone the same way.

Speculation surrounded the fact that the new ShareReactor is registered privately with Holland’s LeaseWeb and curiously, “the forums` IP address (64.27.6.7) is registered with an American based company named Hollywood Interactive, Inc,” says Slyck.

But not to worry. Hollywood Interactive, Inc, doesnt seem to be more than a web hosting company based in Los Angles, California, says the story.
