Orris helps street kids
p2pnet.net News:- Music downloads can make a huge, positive difference not only to musicians, but also to people in dire need – street kids, for example.
The indie-flavoured Royalties Group exclusively hosts artists who donate a portion of their music revenue to charities and social causes and one such is LA-based Orris.
With that in mind, it’s donating 10% of its royalties to the Jeff Griffith Youth Center, an organization that gives runaways an alternative to the streets of Hollywood.
“You can only drive past 15- year-old kids selling themselves on the corner so many times before it really starts to break your heart,” says singer/songwriter David Orris.
Located in the heart of Hollywood, the Jeff Griffith Youth Center delivers both short and long term assistance to the runaway population aged 15-23. Its services range from providing immediate care in the form of hot meals, showers and a safe place to sleep to the more complex services including job training and counseling.
An interview with Orris, as well as the band’s track White Light, are available here.
If you know of an artist, “who has great music and donates some of the royalties to a good cause,” get in touch, asks Royalties founder and indie singer/songwriter Elizabeth Pendleton.
