Oh no, paying for THAT would "devastate" them even more!
Remember they are already devastated by us tiny ants out there that copy what we like without any financal interest in this copying!

They can not pay.

It must be the taxpayer that pays for the trials against their fellow taxpayers and then the imprisonment of those, so that this tiny bunch of cartel guys can get even richer!

My very personal opinion; Those major label bosses and their lawyers in this "sue 'em all no matter how non commercial the nature of the infringement was"-campaign unintentionally file a suit against one american that is really broke, has nothing more to loose after all and has a gun in his posession to visit the parking lot of RIAA to say hello to Mitch and Co.
Maybe then they stop!
The law will not stop them because RIAA has the money! (Money of those stupid taxpayers that still finance them!)

They're going to have to build some more jails. They should make the movie and record industries pay for them.

News in Puerto Rico newspapers in last two weeks:

1. The owner of several movie rental stores and his wife were sentenced to one year in jail for owning a dvd copying operation for making the dvds they rented and sold. 14,000 fake dvds were taken during the arrest.

Note: From what is promoted as fact on dvd's you can get five yers for copying a single dvd. Here it is 1 year for 14,000. Strange legal system, isn't it?

2. On another unralated case, a man received a one year sentence from the same court (federal) for a crime he comitted. He asked that his sentence be increased to four years (I gess the max allowed for the crime) because the federal jail would provide free food and housing. I add, the criminal would also get free security and medical services. The judge rejected the request for more time.

3. On two separate cases in local courts:

a. A person that hired hit man, who shot and almost killed his girlfriend's new friend (a boxer) was given 15 year of probation. Not a single day on jail.

b. A person who admitted murdering a school teacher also got 15 year on probation. Not a single day in jail.

Conclusions: Copyright infringers are more dangerous to society than murderers and the judicial system is bankrupt.
