iPods and p2p file sharing
p2pnet.net News:- Apple’s iPod owners are responsible for a significant part of p2p file sharing.
That’s the unavoidable conclusion drawn from a Jupiter Research report, quoted by the BBC.
Owners get most of their music from, “CDs someone already owned or … from file-sharing sites,” says the story (like you didn’t already know). It goes on:
“The report’s authors claimed their findings had profound implications for the future of the online music market.”
On average, says the study, “only 5% of the music on an iPod will be bought from online music stores” and it emphasises, “The importance of ‘free’ to digital music fans should not be underestimated”.
It also stresses, “Digital music purchasing has not yet fundamentally changed the way in which digital music customers buy music.”
