p2pnet.net News:- Susan Crawford came up with the idea of OneWebDay to show just how much effect the Net has on our lives, and the first OneWebDay celebration is slated to be held tomorrow in Belgrade at the Cinema Rex.

“People from the Austrian ISP association will be supporting OneWebDay in Vienna,” says the OWD site.

And on it are posted a couple of quotes from people who’ll be speaking in NYC on Friday:

“Craig Newmark (of craigslist), says that OneWebDay reminds us that ‘the net really is a democratizing medium, that everyone gets a chance to participate. If you want, you can stick your neck out and speak truth to power.’

“Scott Heiferman (co-founder of Meetup and Fotolog) says ‘The internet is under-hyped. It`ll only continue to re-shape lives across the globe. Surely it deserves a day. OneWebDay is a day for more people to think about how the internet can help solve problems for people around the world’.”
